It is hard to believe that Carly is 3. We celebrated her birthday on Saturday. She had an ice cream party. It was a super cute party. She had so much fun.

Orange Beach 2010

If it is summertime, then I want to be at the beach. Chris, however isn't too much of a beach person. I finally talked him into taking us down to Orange Beach for a few days. It rained a lot and the beaches were full of tar balls, but we still had a great time. We took the kids to the zoo and Waterville. We got to eat some great food as well. Going out to eat is one of my favorite things about the beach.

Brooks slept most of the ride down. Carly didn't close her eyes. She was too excited!

The zoo was a lot of fun. Carly enjoyed feeding the animals. Brooks got to help his daddy feed some of the animals as well. It was really hot so Carly insisted she needed a Sunkist to cool off!

We ate some great food and had lots of fun at The Crab Trap.

On the way home we stopped at Scoops for some ice cream. Carly said she wanted chocolate, but changed her mind after she got it.

Then she saw some Sponge Bob ice cream and decided she wanted that.

However, we settled for a push up, and it was just what she wanted!

Summertime Fun

We have been enjoying the summer so far. My mom, sister, and I took the kids to the Jackson Zoo a couple of weeks ago. Carly and John Turner had a blast! It was really hot, but they ere very well-behaved and didn't complain. Brooks was good, too. He just sat in his stroller and took it all in. Both of my kids LOVE being outside. We recently found out that Brooks loves riding in the wagon. I usually take him and Carly for a ride each morning before naptime. Speaking of Brooks, he has a tooth! It finally broke through yesterday. He is crawling EVERYWHERE and pulling up on EVERYTHING! It is so funny because he is obsessed with the same things Carly was when she was his age (door stoppers and toilets). Carly is doing great, too. She is pretty much potty trained. We still wear pull-ups at night though. She is so strong-willed and independent. Yes, she gets it honest! She amazes me with the things she knows. She is learning to spell and write some of her ABC's. She gets frustrated very easily. I guess she gets that honest as well!

Brooks' baby dedication

Last Sunday we had Brooks dedicated at church. Bro. Jerry, our pastor, did such an amazing job. He wrote Brooks a precious letter. It was such a sweet ceremony. I was blessed to have my parents, my sister and her family, my grandparents, in-laws, brother in law and his family, and my best friend Mindy and her family there to celebrate this special day. Brooks was an angel during the ceremony. He talked and bounced around the entire time.

My sister gave Carly a cat keyboard for Christmas. She LOVES playing it. Lately she has been all about the microphone. She usually doens't want Brooks touching her keyboard, but as you can see from the pictures she was actually teaching him how to play. She has her sweet moments. She even held the microphone so that he could "sing".

Easter 2010

Last week I took the kids to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. As soon as he sat down in the chair, Carly ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him. She has talked non-stop about him ever since. Today I let her dye some Easter eggs. She has been begging to do this all week. She was amazed at how the eggs turned colors. She really liked the fact that it turned her fingers colors. She didn't understand the meaning of "gentle", so all but one egg ended up cracking. She had a good time decorating them with stickers and glitter, and I enjoyed watching her make a mess!

The weather has been warm and windy lately which makes it great for flying kites. Gran bought Carly a Yo Gabba Gabba kite, and she has been having a blast flying it. It was her first time to fly one, and she was amazed. Brooks seems to reach a new milestone every day. He is learning to drink out of a sippy cup, crawl, and sit up. He is also trying to cut a tooth. He is a happy little boy, and Carly LOVES her little brother. She is constantly doing something to him. Brooks just smiles and laughs at her. Growing like weeds

Brooks will be 5 months old tomorrow. I can't believe how fast time is flying. Carly is 2 1/2, and she amazes me with the things that she knows. She can say her ABC's, count to 20, and count to 10 in Spanish! She has the vocabulary of a 5 year old. She also recognizes all of her shapes and colors and is learning how to recognize her ABC's. My cousin's little boy had on a shirt yesterday that said "Little BRO". Carly pointed to his shirt and said "B, R, O". I was so proud! She is almost completely potty trained. She is very strong-willed so this has been a difficult task. I know before long she will be in school. Here are a couple of pictures of my sweet babies after church.

I love every holiday. It is so much fun when you have little ones. As soon as Carly woke up, we told her that Cupid came by last night and left her a Valentine.Then we had heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast. She has been telling everyone "Happy Valentine's Day!" all day. From the look on Brooks' face, you can tell that he was excited about Valentine's Day as well. Here are few pictures of Carly with her surprise from Cupid and our festive pancakes.

Let it snow!

They predicted snow, and we finally got it! Carly is amazed at it. She has spent most of the morning playing in it, and would probably still be if I had not made her come inside. As you can see from the pictures below, she has had a ball! We enjoyed making some snow ice cream as well. I believe we could become snow bunnies very easily!

4 month shots

Brooks went for his 4 month checkup and shots Tuesday. He got a great report. He is growing like a weed. He now weighs 14 lbs 12 oz and is 25 1/2 inches long. That is hard to believe since he only weighed 6 lbs 1 oz when he was born. He is such a happy baby!

Last week the weather was gorgeous so we picked a day and went to the park. Carly had a great time and although Brooks couldn't play, he enjoyed being out also.

Last night I put Brooks in his new highchair just to see how he liked. As you can tell from the picturues, he LOVED it. He loved sitting at the table and watching Carly eat her supper. He also enjoyed looking at the lights. While I was getting Carly cleaned up, I heard a sucking sound. When I turned around and looked at Brooks, he was sucking his thumb. He has been trying for days to get that fist in his mouth. It is cute now, but I'm hoping he will not make this a habit.

Last year I started a tradition with Carly. On Christmas Eve we make a birthday cake for Jesus. I am trying to teach her that Christmas isn't just about Santa Claus. We made some cupcakes this year, as well as a cake. Carly LOVES cupcakes. She made two cupcakes with crosses on them for Jesus. The rest of them are for Santa. She was really into it this year. I think she enjoyed eating the batter and icing best. Here are some pictures from our birthday celebration.

Fall Festival

Last Sunday at our church, we had Fall Festival. Although there wasn't much Carly could do, she still seemed to have a blast. I was able to get a few pictures of her in action. It was a fun day!

Trick or Treat

Halloween this year was really fun for us. Carly was able to actually go trick or treating. We took her to my sister's neighborhood. My parents came over as well. We all ate chili first. Then Amy and Carlton got John Turner in his costume. By the way, he was adorable! After supper, we all piled on the golf cart and made our way around the neighborhood. At first she was shy about trick or treating. However, by the third house, she was picking the candy she wanted and dropping it in her basket. She is such an entertainer. We found out that she LOVES M & M's. Carly's cousin Landon also stopped by, and what a precious little turtle he was! We had a great time visiting with family and showing off the babies! Of course, next year Carly will be able to tell me what she wants to be.

My computer savvy sister helped me create a blog today(Thanks, Amy! You're the best!). I have been wanting to get one started for a while. I'm not really sure how it all works yet, but hopefully I will learn. It will probably be hard to find time to post anything since my little girl seldom takes naps. She loves a computer, so you have to get on it when she is sleeping. I'm excited about sharing a little bit of our lives with all of my friends.
